Also, small towns aligned with trees
The photo below shows a wire crossing the busy highway. We believe this is for any animal that is able to climb to help it cross the highway without getting injured. Unfortunately, we never did see anything using it.
For our entry into Sydney we were greeted by the famous sight of the Sydney Opera House. It is a wonderful example of what an architect can design.
We used the local ferry service to get views of Sydney from the Sydney Harbour. The jet boat below was giving passengers a thrill of a lifetime.
For some reason unknown to us the Coldstream Guards were on parade beside the harbour. We never did find out why they were there.
One of the things I wanted to do in Sydney was to walk up the Harbour Bridge. After I found out how much it cost and the height I would have to walk up, I gave it a miss and decided to take photos of brave people doing what I had wanted.
I thought this was a nice photo of Gary. He appears to be enjoying himself.
The next few photos are of our visit to the Sydney Botanical Gardens.
In amongst sky scrapers was an old building which I later learned was the Sydney Hospital.
The fountain inside the hospital grounds.
The old mint house.
The Cathedral.
Hyde Park
We rode the double decker trains into the city.
I had to look twice at the advertisement below. I could not resist taking a photograph of it,
I liked the following sign. By the time you read it, it is too late to turn back.
A sewer, oh they mean a sewer!!! So glad our cousin Jackie didn't choose this name for her
business. We did see a Miss Sew and Sew which we thought was a clever name for a sewing business.
Well, so ends our trip to Australia. It was an interesting visit, the highlight being the wonderful Great Barrier Reef and the friendly people. Would I go back?, I do not think so. Gary said he would as he would like to see the west coast. We are off to New Zealand tomorrow. See you then.
